Seatronics would like to congratulate the 5th place winners of Robosub from the National University of Singapore. The team of students that took part in the competition have been sponsored by Seatronics Singapore over the last couple of years and Seatronics are very impressed with the team’s achievements.
The goal of this competition is to advance the development of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) by challenging a new generation of engineers to perform realistic missions in an underwater environment. The event also serves to foster ties between young engineers and the organizations developing AUV technologies.
The Annual RoboSub Competition is an important key to keeping young engineers excited about careers in science, technology, engineering, and math which has been tremendously successful in recruiting students into the high-tech field of maritime robotics.
Seatronics became a sponsor of the BumbleBee Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (BBAUV) project in September 2012. The BumbleBee team expressed “over the past two years, Seatronics have remained one of our most crucial and generous sponsors”. The support provided year-long sponsored loans of the Workhorse DVL and BlueView imaging sonar. The team greatly benefited from these loans as the equipment has allowed them to perform their best at Robosub 2013 & 2014. The sponsorship from Seatronics has also supplied the BumbleBee team with more than 60 sets of underwater connectors and moulding support for their projects, along with, export and import support for their AUV equipment which is crucial for the team to get their equipment wherever it needs to be in the shortest period of time.
Grace Chia, a member of the Alumni for the 2014 team explained “All the staff at Seatronics have been extremely supportive and have taught us a lot over the last 2 years”.
